The Sheffield Cats Shelter
The Sheffield Cats Shelter, with a remarkable 126-year history, has continually evolved to meet changing social needs, including transforming its facilities into open rooms for cats to socialise, and enhancing its volunteering scheme to support individuals with disabilities and special needs. Their unwavering dedication to cats is a constant.
The Shelter's core objectives are focused on alleviating and preventing the suffering and distress of cats in need. They are committed to promoting feline welfare and finding loving new homes for cats and kittens requiring care. Their vision for a perfect world is one where all cats are happy, healthy, and homed.
Prioritizing a home-like environment, the Shelter houses cats in rooms, not cages, allowing them to express natural behaviours and providing comfort with beds, cat trees, scratch posts, toys, and quality food. Their aim is to maintain the cats’ happiness and fulfilment during their stay.
Every cat at the Shelter is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, ensuring their health and safety, and giving adopters confidence.
Support from the community is crucial for the Shelter to continue its work in caring for and protecting cats in Sheffield and the surrounding areas, ensuring they never have to face fear or hunger again.
